“It's been ages since I shouted Bravo so enthusiastically at anything, and ages since I saw such a packed house at a new "classical" music evening as this time.” –

The Strange Suicide of two Lovers in Shinagawa
Polárka Theatre | Brno | 17 February 2009
Ensemble Opera Diversa is a company of young professional musicians and singers. Their aim is to perform chamber music and opera in a "diversed" way, with utmost care for the spectator and the listener, ideally in informal venues allowing immediate responses and a close contact between the performers and the audience. Besides a classical repertoire we perform new compositions, such as the (mini)operas of the author team Ondřej Kyas (music) and Pavel Drábek (libretto).
The Ensemble's activities fall into several categories:
Opera performances – original musical-theatre projects, predominantly by the Kyas|Drábek team. Besides minioperas, there are longer works with a larger ensemble, such as the full-length operas Pickelhering 1607 aneb Nový Orfeus z Bohemie (Pickelhering 1607, ossia Il nuovo Orfeo di Boemia, 2007), the poetic opera Společná smrt milenců v Šinagawě (The Strange Suicide of two Lovers in Shinagawa, 2009) and the upcoming production Ela and the Demon, consisting of two chamber operas, Lukáš Sommer's Ela, Hela a stop (Ela, Hela and Hitchhiking, 2009) – a miniopera, libretto based on early short play by Václav Havel; and Ondřej Kyas's Dýňový démon ve vegetariánské restauraci (The Pumpkin Demon in a Vegetarian Restaurant, 2010), an opera to Pavel Drábek's libretto, based on Tomáš Studený's recipe.
Concerts of classical and modern chamber music – dedicated both to the traditional reperoire as well as to new work written by composers affiliated or collaborating with the Diversa (such as the CreativesCentrum Wien).
Choral works concerts – performed by the chamber choir Ensemble Versus, specializing in the music of the 16th and the 20th centuries (formerly kaMUFFláž).
Ensemble Opera Diversa performs in the Czech Republic as well as, repeatedly, in Austria. It is renowned for its quality and the lively approach to classical and modern music. The orchestra is a much-sought-after body accompanying soloists and premiering new compositions.
